Totum Life Science Toronto

Love love love this gym with its “whole health” approach to fitness. This is not one of those overcrowded chain fitness clubs with broken equipment and washrooms you wouldn’t dare go barefoot in. The King St. location (455 King St. W) is 15,000 square feet of award-winning design…it’s workout zen for a jet set clientele. The naturally-lit open-concept wood-floored studio has been featured in architectural magazines, and is equipped with state-of-the-art machines. The trainers at Totum are world-class, worth every dime you pay them to make you sweat.

You won’t get bored with your workout here because of the great variety of classes to supplement your usual routine: boxing, Muay Thai, ballet bootcamp, salsa, pilates, spinning, conditioning and yoga.

A yoga/pilates/spinning studio is separated from the low hum of machines and tunes by sliding garage doors. When I’m in Toronto you’ll find me in this studio Tuesdays and Fridays at noon stretching and strengthening with Leo Hauer, one of the best yoga teachers I’ve ever had the privilege to work with. His Friday yin yoga class is the sweetest class you’ll find anywhere from India to California. You’ll walk out feeling five inches taller, twenty pounds lighter and impossibly sunnier on a grey Toronto day.
