My Friend Needs Help

rtmap1A big reason I started “Feel Good Guru” was to create and be a part of a community of CHUPPIES – conscious, healthy urbanites with passion & power to inspire evolution.

I’m humbled by the number of people who stop by here regularly to see what’s cooking, to cleanse their way to impeccable wellness, to catch a green travel tip or to be inspired. Through this community I’ve met some incredible people who care deeply about their health, the health of the planet and the well-being of the world around them.

One of those people is Mark Horvath, who stepped out of the Twitter stream on Christmas Day 08 with boxes of plastic raincoats to give to the homeless people of Venice Beach. I was so blown away that someone I had never met would respond to my tweet “hey, let’s go feed some homeless peeps today in venice beach #TweetUplift“, on Christmas day in the rain and with a carload of raincoats to give away!

I discovered that Mark had been working in film and television and had been laid off, only to find himself homeless. He started a blog to try and get more exposure for his marketing and media talents to find a job, and somewhere along the way, he was called to help others in more desperate need than himself.

Mark created “Invisible People Tv” for which he interviews homeless people, lets them tell their story, gives them a face and a voice, and changes lives in the process. I’m endlessly inspired by his compassion, his understanding, his gentleness with these sometimes fragile souls and his respectfulness in the interviews.

Through Invisible People, I’ve learned much about the human condition. We truly are all connected. Watch James and hear about his simple desire to have a safe and loving community where everyone gets fed and everyone helps out. Isn’t that what we all want?

In a few weeks, Mark will be embarking on a cross-country odyssey to tent cities across America to capture the stories of people without a home. “On any given night,” Mark says, “over three million people sleep without a home to call their own. In the past year, homelessness in America has snowballed into a full-fledged crisis.”

Invisible People TV’s Road Trip U.S.A. will make stops at approximately 20 cities and communities across the country and Mark will be doing outreach through local and national media outlets.

Here’s where you come in CHUPPIES! Mark needs help! He’s looking for sponsors, donations of gas money, hosts, to cut down on accommodation costs, speaking engagement opportunities and homeless service guides in each city. If you’re as in awe of Mark’s mission as I am, help fuel his passion & power to inspire evolution!
