L.O.V.E. Cafe Underground

Local. Organic. Vegan. Evolutionary. The L.O.V.E. Cafe hit the Toronto underground dining scene last week with a celebration of fiddleheads and farmers! The first Toronto version of L.O.V.E. Cafe was an invitation-only 10-person gathering featuring guest of honor, Jorge DeAndrade, who regaled diners with stories from the farm over fiddleheads-done-four-ways. Jorge, a passionate advocate for sustainable farming, has been the main supplier of local organic veggies to Feel Good Guru’s Food since its launch in February. I wanted to honor him for his work and introduce some of my best customers to their farmer.

The evening began with a glass of Ontario Biodynamic wine while people arrived and introduced themselves. In the mix were two TV producers, a flight attendant, an actor and author, a health industry professional, a couple of ad execs, a holistic nutritionist, and myself, host and chef – a diverse group of singles and couples bonding over the common interest in healthy eating.

The Menu:

Fresh Spring Rolls with Raw Beet, Bartlette Pears, Spiralized Zucchini Noodles, Organic Greens, Mint and Steamed Fiddleheads, served with a Spicy Raw Spanish Almond Sauce

Kale & Avocado Salad in a Blueberry, Goji, Pomegranate Vinaigrette

Forest Fern Bisque with Cashew Sour Creme

Heirloom Beet Rawvioli stuffed with Truffled Macadamia Nut Ricotta and topped with Fiddlehead Pesto

Merlot-Salted Double Raw Cocoa Cream Pie

Enjoyed to the max by all in attendance:) Can’t wait for next month! Don’t miss it! L.O.V.E. Cafe Underground operates once a month out of the downtown Toronto loft kitchen of Feel Good Guru’s Food. For more info or to get on the list, email me at moira at feel good guru dot com.

    Hi Moira,
Came across your website this evening, as I am researching Vegan restaurants in Toronto, for my visit from the UK in October. As soon as I saw your photos on http://www.feelgoodguru.com, I knew I would find what I needed. I shall be staying with some old friends(non-Vegan) in Davisville, but I want to them to taste how good a vegan diet is.
Will you be opening the L.O.V.E Cafe between 2nd and 10th October by any possible chance?
I saw Forks over Knives a few weeks ago, and have not looked back.
Even if you are not open as a restaurant for the dates I am there, I shall come for a Takeaway!
Look forward to seeing you then, and good luck with the L.O.V.E Cafe. My daughter(Laura) has a website/Blog now – http://www.Love-Vegan.com – her journey for a healthier lifestyle and diet for her and her family (4 kids aged 3-16). In only 3 months she has well over 2000 following her on Twitter – the momentum is gathering, as I am sure you well know! Best wishes, Helen x
