This place is not for everyone, but if everyone went just once, we’d probably have peace on earth. Harbin Hot Springs is a clothing optional retreat north of San Francisco, beyond the Napa Valley wine region in nature’s embrace. It’s a garden of Eden where deer and wild turkeys wander through your campsite by the babbling brook, the air is champagne bubbly and the scent of eucalyptus everywhere transports you to a place of deep healing. You’ll find yourself wishing you could stay forever – and some people do.

Harbin Hot Springs has been a place of deep healing for me at several intervals in my life. You can camp or rent a room near the pools, take a yoga class, get a massage, or, unique to Harbin, a watsu. There’s a great little onsite coffee shop and a full service restaurant with healthy food made onsite.

Because of the “clothing optional” element here, on weekends it can tend to attract a party crowd. But if you go mid-week and off-season, you’ll discover a peaceful place of relaxation, contemplation and meditation unlike anywhere else in the world.
