Moira Nordholt, founder
I am Feel Good Guru and so can you!
I’ve been on the planet 41 years and here’s what I’ve learned so far:
the greatest journey is the journey within;
the most nourishing food is food prepared with love;
the best exercise for the abs is laughter;
the highest accomplishment is to be someone’s friend in the worst of times; and the most magnificent sunsets are in the Yukon at midnight in summer.
I’m merely an accumulation of molecules and memories, but it’s a unique miscellany that started assembling before I was born the second of six children to Catholic parents in a Mennonite town not far from Toronto, the fabulous multi-cultural city I now call home when I’m not traveling across Canada in search of solitude and inspiration or groovin’ with the woowoo in Venice, California.
I’ve had many incarnations - in this order, in this lifetime - as a free-spirited child, an au pair in Paris, a waitress, a flight attendant, a wife, a restaurant owner, a chef, a burned-out, chronically-fatigued divorcee soul-searching in India, a yoga hospital patient, a yoga student, a yoga teacher, a spa therapist, a qigong and meditation student, a cat lover, a solo motorcycle adventurer, a blogger, a wellness coach, a travel writer, a screenwriter, a filmmaker, a vegetarian lifestyle writer, a caterer, an eco-menu consultant, a tastemaker, a website creator and finally, an author.
I founded Fossil Face Cafe, Banff, Canada’s first vegetarian restaurant, and spent six years in the kitchen developing recipes and serving up delicious and nutritious meatless cuisine to a loyal local and international clientele.
Since then, I’ve had the privilege of cooking for some of North America’s most noted vegetarians, as well as consulting with some of Canada’s top wellness centers, retreats and spas on menu planning and wellness programs. I’ve taught yoga across Canada, and held a private clientele that included Toronto luminaries and rock stars.
I’ve written newspaper and magazine articles on health and wellness, green travel, vegetarian food and lifestyle for such publications as the Toronto Star, VegNews, the Vancouver Sun, Utne Reade
r and the Venice Beachhead. Recently, I’ve launched “Feel Good Fast ~ 21 Days the Feel Good Guru Way”, your seasonal plant-powered guide to a cleaner, greener, leaner lifestyle and now run the full program online with personal and group coaching.
I believe we’re moving toward a healthier, more sustainable, more compassionate way of dealing with our food chain and our humanity. “Feel Good Fast” will help you get there in a straight-forward, easy-to-follow and delicious format of menus and recipes, shopping lists, overviews and plant-powered wisdom.
Every summer, rain, hail or snow, I love to take to the Alaska Highway on my motorbike, solo.
I created Feel Good Guru as a playground, a filter for optimism, a forum where I can put my passions and skills together with other experts in a venue that inspires myself and the rest of the world to get healthy and hip, to stay fresh-picked and to keep on groovin’ with the woowoo!
Please feel free to contact me: moira@feelgoodguru.com and if you’re ever in Venice or Toronto, join us for our monthly L.O.V.E. cafe underground!
